The Kansas Region of PTTC, in partnership with the Kansas Geological Society, will present these petroleum geology short courses at the Wichita Airport Hilton. You may attend your choice of one day, or both days.
Continuing Education credits will be given each day.

Presentation Topics

Day One:

  • Source rocks, reservoir rocks, seals & traps

  • Historical geology of Kansas

  • Sandstone and carbonate reservoirs

  • Porosity and permeability development

  • The wellsite geologist

  • Formation evaluation

  • Fundamentals of geologic mapping

  • Utilizing geophysics

Day Two:

  • Chase

  • Lansing-Kansas City

  • Marmaton & Cherokee of eastern Kansas

  • Unconventional gas; Cherokee coal and Niobrara chalk

  • Atokan

  • Chester

  • Mississippian

  • Hunton/Viola/Simpson

  • Arbuckle

Who should attend-

This short course is designed as a refresher for geologists, and as a basic instruction course for other disciplines. The material presented will be a source of information for anyone with a basic knowledge of the petroleum production industry - engineers, geologists, operators, lease foremen, regulators, etc.

Continuing Education

Attendees desiring to use short course attendance to fulfill continuing education requirements to maintain professional licenses will be provided a certificate of attendance at the end of each day.
